1large grapefruitto yield about 1/2 cup fresh juice
4-5fresh sage leaves
1tablespoonhoney or agave syrup
0.5cupclub soda or sparkling water
Ice cubes
Grapefruit slicefor garnish, optional
Extra sage sprigfor garnish, optional
Instructions
Drop the sage leaves into a cocktail shaker or jar.
Muddle them with the honey or agave to release the oils.
Add the fresh grapefruit juice and fill the shaker halfway with ice.
Shake well for about 15 seconds until chilled and mixed.
Strain the liquid into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
Slowly pour in the club soda or sparkling water and stir gently.
Garnish your drink with a grapefruit slice and a sprig of sage if you like.
Notes
Tweak the sweetener based on the grapefruit's tartness. Pink grapefruit yields a sweeter flavor. Mix everything except soda ahead for a crowd, and add soda right before serving. For extra zing, run a grapefruit peel around the rim.
