  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Tall cocktail glass
  • Ice cube tray
  • Bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 oz grenadine syrup
  • 2 oz club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange wheel for garnish
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  • Pour vodka, lime juice, and grenadine syrup into the shaker.
  • Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Fill a tall cocktail glass with fresh ice cubes.
  • Double strain the mixture into the glass through both strainers.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with an orange wheel and maraschino cherry.

Notes

The drink should have a gradient effect with the grenadine settling at the bottom. Don't stir too much or this effect will be lost.
Fresh lime juice makes a big difference in taste compared to bottled juice.
Store grenadine syrup in the refrigerator after opening to maintain freshness.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with lemon-lime soda or additional club soda.
