anejo or reposado

gingerbread syrup

Instructions
Add tequila, gingerbread syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass.
Fill the glass with ice.
Stir for about 30 seconds until well-chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink, then drop it in.
Optional: garnish with candied ginger on a cocktail pick.
Notes
Homemade gingerbread syrup offers the richest flavor. Adjust sweetness or spice to taste, and don't skip the orange peel garnish for added aroma.
