  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Measuring jigger
  • Highball glass or collins glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka or gin
  • 1/2 oz lime juice fresh-squeezed
  • 1/2 oz ginger syrup or 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • ice cubes to fill glass
  • 2-3 mint leaves for muddling and garnish
  • lime wedge for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Add mint leaves and lime juice to the cocktail shaker and muddle gently.
  • Add vodka, sugar or ginger syrup, and some ice cubes into the shaker.
  • Shake well for about 10-15 seconds until chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into a highball or collins glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top off with ginger beer.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon to mix.
  • Garnish with extra mint leaves and a lime wedge.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for the brightest flavor. Swap vodka for gin or rum for a twist. For a non-alcoholic version, leave out the vodka and add more ginger beer. Adjust sweetness by changing ginger syrup or sugar. Smack mint leaves before garnishing for more aroma. Best served very cold.
