Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wheel for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Peel and grate fresh ginger root.
  • Fill the copper mug with ice cubes.
  • Pour vodka and fresh lime juice into the mug.
  • Add the grated ginger and stir gently.
  • Top with ginger beer and mix with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel and mint sprig.

Notes

The copper mug keeps the drink extra cold and enhances the taste.
Fresh ginger works better than powdered ginger for this recipe.
Store leftover ginger root in the freezer to keep it fresh longer.
For a non-alcoholic version, use club soda instead of vodka.
