Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Tall glass or mason jar
  • Measuring jigger or small cup
  • Strainer
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Small knife and cutting board
  • Ice scoop or large spoon

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup ginger ale or ginger beer
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup
  • 2-3 fresh mint leaves
  • 3-4 fresh or frozen cranberries
  • crushed ice
  • lime wedge for garnish
  • extra mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Add mint leaves and cranberries to a cocktail shaker and muddle for about 15 seconds.
  • Fill the shaker with crushed ice.
  • Pour in cranberry juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and ginger ale.
  • Shake gently for about 10-15 seconds so the flavors mix well.
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with more crushed ice.
  • Top with extra ginger ale if you like more fizz.
  • Garnish the drink with a lime wedge, mint sprig, and a few cranberries.

Notes

Frozen cranberries help keep the drink cold without watering it down. For more ginger flavor, grate a bit of fresh ginger in before shaking. Use less simple syrup or unsweetened cranberry juice to reduce sugar. Club soda can replace ginger ale for a lighter drink.
