Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin use a dry gin for crispness
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup 1:1 sugar to water
  • 4-5 fresh basil leaves
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving

Instructions

  • Place the basil leaves in a cocktail shaker and muddle gently to release their aroma.
  • Add gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled serving glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a basil sprig or lemon wheel, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Muddle basil gently to avoid bitterness. For a peppery twist, use Thai basil. Chill glasses ahead of time for extra refreshment. Adjust lemon or syrup to taste. Optionally top with sparkling water for fizz.
