Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring spoon
  • Cocktail shaker (optional)
  • Bar spoon or stirrer
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Ice crusher or mallet/bag

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 8 –10 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tsp simple syrup or sugar
  • Club soda or sparkling water to top
  • Crushed ice
  • Lime wedges for muddling/garnish
  • Mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • In a highball glass, add mint leaves and lime wedges (or juice).
  • Pour in the simple syrup or sprinkle sugar over the mint and lime.
  • Gently muddle the ingredients to release oils and juices.
  • Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
  • Pour in the white rum.
  • Stir well to mix everything together.
  • Add more crushed ice and top with club soda or sparkling water.
  • Stir gently once more.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wedge.

Notes

Use simple syrup for easier mixing—sugar sometimes settles.
Gently muddle the mint to avoid bitterness.
For a spooky vibe, add a drop of green food coloring or float a lychee "eyeball" on top.
Crushed ice chills the drink faster and blends flavors beautifully.
Multiply ingredients for a party-sized mojito pitcher—just muddle lime and mint first!
