Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Bar spoon
  • Small plate for salt or sugar rim
  • Margarita or cocktail glass
  • Ice crusher or blender for crushed ice
  • Knife and cutting board for lime wedges

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila (silver or blanco)
  • 1 oz Midori melon liqueur
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • Salt or sugar for glass rim (optional)

Instructions

  • Rim the glass with lime juice, then dip in salt or sugar if desired.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice.
  • Add tequila, Midori, triple sec, and lime juice.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds to get it nice and cold.
  • Strain into the prepped glass, filled with more crushed ice.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

Midori gives this margarita a bright green color and a sweeter profile than a classic margarita, but the lime juice keeps it balanced. Try topping with a splash of soda water for a lighter version, or switch between a salted and sugared rim for different moods.
