I pick a good quality vodka for a smoother drink.
Instructions
Fill a copper mug with ice cubes.
Pour in 2 oz vodka and 1 oz elderflower liqueur.
Add 1/2 oz fresh lime juice.
Top with about 4 oz ginger beer.
Stir gently with a mixing spoon.
Garnish with a lime wheel or slice.
Add a fresh mint sprig if you like.
When I stir gently, I make sure not to lose the fizz from the ginger beer.
Notes
Using a copper mug is not required, but I find it makes a difference in keeping the drink cold longer.I always use clear, fresh ice since old or cloudy ice can add unwanted flavors.I sometimes swap out mint for a thin cucumber slice if I want a milder aroma. If I want my cocktail less sweet, I add more lime juice. For a stronger ginger taste, I pick a ginger beer that’s labeled “extra spicy.”Adjust the elderflower liqueur to your taste. If you like subtle floral flavor, use a bit less.
