Equipment

  • Tall glass or highball glass
  • Jigger or measuring spoons
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Muddler (optional)
  • Citrus juicer or reamer
  • Small sieve (optional)
  • Knife and chopping board

Ingredients

  • 40 ml elderflower cordial or syrup
  • 30 ml blackcurrant syrup or juice
  • 20 ml fresh lemon juice or lime juice
  • Ice cubes enough to fill the glass
  • 100 ml sparkling water or club soda
  • 4 –6 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 –3 thin cucumber slices optional
  • Blackcurrants or elderflowers for garnish optional
  • 1 lemon or lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  • Add 40 ml elderflower cordial or syrup.
  • Pour in 30 ml blackcurrant syrup or juice.
  • Add 20 ml fresh lemon juice or lime juice.
  • Tear up 4–6 mint leaves and add to the glass. Muddle them if a stronger mint flavor is desired.
  • Drop in 2–3 cucumber slices if using.
  • Stir gently with a long spoon to combine the ingredients.
  • Top up with 100 ml sparkling water or club soda.
  • Garnish with a lemon or lime wedge, and optionally blackcurrants or elderflowers.
  • Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
