Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Martini or coupe glass
  • Small bowl
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz coconut cream
  • 1 oz vanilla liqueur
  • 1 oz half-and-half or milk
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 0.5 oz lime juice fresh
  • ice cubes for shaking
  • sugar or coconut flakes optional, for rimming the glass
  • toasted coconut flakes optional, for garnish
  • black food coloring a few drops, optional for swirl effect

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker about halfway with ice.
  • Add white rum, coconut cream, vanilla liqueur, half-and-half, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice.
  • Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker is very cold.
  • Optional: Rim a chilled martini or coupe glass with sugar or coconut flakes.
  • Strain into the glass.
  • Optional: Add a few drops of black food coloring on top and gently swirl for a ghostly effect. Garnish with toasted coconut flakes.

Notes

Shake well so the coconut cream fully emulsifies. If it separates while sitting, give the cocktail a quick stir. Crushed ice will lighten the texture but melts faster. For a non-alcoholic version, swap rum and liqueur for coconut water and vanilla syrup.
