Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Tall glass
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need to make one Cucumber Melon Cooler:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz melon liqueur
  • 3-4 cucumber slices
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Cucumber slice and melon ball for garnish

Use a ripe, sweet melon for the best flavor. Honeydew works well, but cantaloupe is also tasty. Fresh lime juice makes a big difference compared to bottled.

Instructions

Follow these steps to make your Cucumber Melon Cooler:

  • Put cucumber slices in the shaker and muddle gently.
  • Add vodka, melon liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with a splash of club soda.
  • Garnish with a cucumber slice and melon ball.

Stir gently before drinking to mix in the club soda. The drink should be a pale green color with bits of cucumber floating on top.

    Notes

This recipe is easy to adjust based on your taste. If you like it sweeter, add more melon liqueur or simple syrup. For a stronger cucumber flavor, muddle more slices or add a dash of cucumber bitters.
You can make a non-alcoholic version by skipping the vodka and melon liqueur. Replace them with melon-flavored sparkling water or extra club soda and a bit of melon puree.
For a party, prep the cucumber and melon ahead of time. You can also mix the other ingredients (except club soda) in a pitcher. Just shake with ice and top with soda for each serving.
