Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz triple sec
  • 3 cucumber slices ¼ inch thick
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • Salt for rim optional
  • Cucumber ribbon and lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass and dip in salt if desired.
  • Place cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker and muddle gently to release the juice.
  • Add tequila, fresh lime juice, triple sec, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  • Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  • Double strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and lime wheel.

Notes

Make simple syrup by mixing equal parts sugar and water in a small pot. Heat until sugar dissolves, then cool completely before using.
Fresh ingredients make a big difference. Use newly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled.
Store leftover simple syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
For a spicy variation, add 2-3 thin jalapeño slices during the muddling step.
This recipe serves one person. Double or triple ingredients to make multiple drinks.
