  • Muddler
  • Bar strainer
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Short glasses
  • Small knife and cutting board
  • Ice crusher
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey or rye
  • 1 oz cranberry juice unsweetened or sweetened
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup or maple or rosemary syrup
  • fresh cranberries small handful
  • 2-3 mint leaves or rosemary sprig
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice or lemon juice
  • crushed ice
  • club soda, ginger beer, or ginger ale splash, optional
  • granulated sugar or cranberry syrup optional, for rimming
  • orange slice, lemon twist, or mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Add cranberries and mint (or rosemary) to the shaker.
  • Add simple syrup and muddle gently until berries pop.
  • Pour in bourbon, cranberry juice, and lime or lemon juice.
  • Add plenty of crushed ice. Shake for 15 seconds.
  • Strain into a short glass packed with crushed ice.
  • Top with club soda, ginger beer, or ginger ale if desired.
  • Garnish with cranberries, citrus twist, or herb sprig.

Notes

For less sweetness, use unsweetened cranberry juice and less syrup. Swap in rosemary syrup for earthy flavor. Try different citrus (lime or lemon) for more tartness. Rim the glass with sugar for extra flair!
