Equipment

  • Highball or collins glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Mixing spoon
  • Measuring jigger
  • Citrus juicer
  • Small saucepan
  • Ice cube tray

Ingredients

  • 2 oz whiskey
  • 2 oz cranberry juice unsweetened preferred
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz lemon juice or lime juice
  • 3 oz club soda or sparkling water/ginger ale
  • ice cubes
  • fresh cranberries for garnish
  • 1 sprig rosemary for garnish
  • 1 wedge lime for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Fill shaker with ice. Add whiskey, cranberry juice, simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  • Shake until well chilled.
  • Strain into a highball or Collins glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda, sparkling water, or ginger ale. Stir gently.
  • Garnish with cranberries, rosemary, lime wedge, or mint leaves as desired.

Notes

Use ginger ale for a sweeter drink, or sparkling water to keep it light. Unsweetened cranberry juice is tart; adjust simple syrup as needed. Load up on ice to keep the fizz strong.
