Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka plain or citrus vodka
  • 1 oz cranberry juice unsweetened preferred
  • 1 oz lime juice fresh squeezed
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • sparkling water optional, for topping
  • lime wedge or fresh cranberries garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your cocktail shaker about halfway with ice cubes.
  • Pour in the vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake well for about 15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold.
  • Strain into a highball or rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with a splash of sparkling water if desired.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge or a few cranberries and serve immediately.

Notes

Stick with unsweetened cranberry juice for a tart finish. Adjust simple syrup for your preferred sweetness. Citrus vodka can brighten the drink, but plain vodka works well. For parties, batch the base ingredients in a pitcher, then shake individual servings with ice.
