  • Heatproof mug or glass
  • Wooden spoon
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Small knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 0.5 cup hot water
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1-2 tbsp honey to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise optional
  • fresh cranberries garnish
  • orange slice garnish

Instructions

  • Warm cranberry juice and water in a saucepan over medium heat with cinnamon, cloves, and star anise. Steep 5 minutes, do not boil.
  • Remove from heat, stir in honey until dissolved.
  • Add lemon juice and vodka. Stir to combine.
  • Strain into a heatproof mug. Garnish with cranberries or orange slice and serve hot.

Notes

Start with less honey and add more if you like it sweeter. Swap vodka for whiskey for a bolder flavor. The longer the spices steep, the stronger the aroma.
