Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Bar spoon
  • Fine strainer
  • Rocks glass
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Muddler
  • Citrus juicer
  • Ice cubes
  • Small plate

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 1 oz cranberry juice unsweetened preferred
  • 0.75 oz lime juice fresh
  • 0.5 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup to taste
  • 2-3 fresh sage leaves
  • coarse salt for rimming glass
  • fresh cranberries for garnish
  • lime wheel for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Rim your glass with lime and dip into coarse salt (optional).
  • Add sage leaves and simple syrup to the shaker. Muddle gently to release flavor.
  • Add tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, triple sec, and ice to shaker.
  • Shake well for 15 seconds.
  • Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with cranberries, lime wheel, and a sage leaf.

Notes

Use unsweetened cranberry juice for a tarter drink, or sweetened for a fruitier vibe. More sage makes it earthier—adjust to taste. Try reposado tequila for a richer flavor, or rim with sugar for a sweeter version.
