Equipment

  • Highball glass or tumbler
  • Measuring cups/jiggers
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon for stirring
  • Citrus juicer (optional)
  • Ice cube tray
  • Cutting board and knife

Ingredients

  • 2 oz ¼ cup cranberry juice
  • 1 oz 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • ½ oz 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 oz ⅜ cup sparkling water
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup or honey
  • Orange slices for garnish
  • Fresh cranberries for garnish optional
  • Ice cubes

Use 100% cranberry juice rather than cranberry cocktail for a less sweet, more authentic flavor.

Instructions

  • Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour cranberry juice over the ice.
  • Add orange juice and lime juice to the glass.
  • Pour in the simple syrup or honey.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon to mix ingredients.
  • Top with sparkling water.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and a few fresh cranberries.

Don't stir too vigorously after adding sparkling water to maintain carbonation.

    Notes

This recipe can be easily adjusted to suit different tastes. For a sweeter drink, add more simple syrup. For a more tart version, increase the cranberry juice.
The mocktail keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours without the sparkling water. Add the sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz.
Try freezing cranberry juice in ice cube trays to use instead of regular ice for a drink that doesn't dilute as the ice melts.
For a holiday version, add a cinnamon stick or star anise as garnish to bring warm spice notes to the drink.
