Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Rocks glass or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Small knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 oz whiskey bourbon, rye, or Irish
  • 1 oz unsweetened cranberry juice or cranberry cocktail
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz pure maple syrup
  • 0.5 oz orange juice optional, for a cranberry orange twist
  • 1 egg white optional, for foam
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • fresh cranberries or lemon wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  • Add whiskey, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Add orange juice or egg white if using.
  • Shake firmly for about 15 seconds to chill and blend. If using egg white, shake once without ice (dry shake), then again with ice.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with fresh cranberries or a lemon wedge.

Notes

Use unsweetened cranberry juice for a tart kick or cranberry cocktail for a softer flavor. Adjust maple syrup to taste depending on juice sweetness. Egg white creates a foamy top, but the cocktail is delicious without it too.
