Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Bar spoon
  • Fine strainer
  • Muddler
  • Rocks glass
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Citrus juicer
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz cranberry juice unsweetened preferred
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • fresh cranberries small handful
  • fresh mint leaves optional, for garnish
  • lemon wedge for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add fresh cranberries and simple syrup to the shaker and muddle to break up the berries.
  • Add bourbon, cranberry juice, and lemon juice. Fill shaker with ice.
  • Shake well for about 15 seconds.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with mint, cranberries, and a lemon wedge.

Notes

Use more or less simple syrup for your preferred sweetness. Fresh cranberries add tartness and color; muddle well for the best flavor. Garnish with mint for a holiday look, or add a splash of club soda for a lighter drink.
