Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple juice or sparkling apple cider
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup or honey
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon or 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1 slice fresh ginger about 1/4 inch thick
  • 2 oz sparkling water or soda water or lemon-lime soda
  • mint leaves plus a mint sprig for garnish
  • ice cubes enough to fill your glass
  • 1 oz orange juice optional, for extra citrus
  • sliced apples for garnish
  • ginger ale optional, instead of sparkling water

Instructions

  • Add apple juice, lemon juice, simple syrup (or honey), cloves, ginger, and cinnamon to the shaker.
  • Lightly muddle ginger and mint leaves in the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10–15 seconds.
  • Strain into a tall glass with fresh ice.
  • Top with sparkling water, soda water, ginger ale, or sparkling apple cider. Stir gently.
  • Garnish with mint sprig and apple slices if desired. Serve cold.

Notes

Use fresh juice and real spices for the brightest flavor. Add more clove or ginger for extra warmth, or use lemon-lime soda for a bubbly kick. Strain out whole spices for smooth sipping.
