Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Muddler
  • Strainer
  • Tall glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz hibiscus syrup
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup
  • 2-3 orange slices
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Lime wheel and orange slice for garnish

The hibiscus syrup gives this cocktail its pretty pink color and tart flavor.

Instructions

  • Add orange slices to the shaker and muddle gently.
  • Pour in vodka, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into a tall glass filled with ice.
  • Top with club soda.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel and orange slice.

Shaking the drink with ice chills it quickly and blends the flavors. The club soda adds a nice fizz and lightens the drink.

    Notes

This recipe makes one cocktail. You can easily double or triple it for a group. For a non-alcoholic version, skip the vodka and add more club soda.
The drink is quite tart. If you prefer it sweeter, add more simple syrup. You can also try different citrus fruits like grapefruit or tangerine for variety.
Store leftover hibiscus syrup in the fridge for up to two weeks. Use it in other cocktails or mix with soda water for a quick drink.
