Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Highball glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 4-5 fresh raspberries
  • 2-3 fresh blackberries
  • 2 oz club soda
  • Lemon wheel and extra berries for garnish

Choose a good quality vodka for the best taste. Fresh lemon juice works better than bottled. Make simple syrup by mixing equal parts sugar and water until dissolved. Pick ripe, flavorful berries.

Instructions

  • Add raspberries and blackberries to the shaker. Then, muddle gently to release juices.
  • Pour in vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into an ice-filled highball glass.
  • Next, top it with club soda and stir lightly.
  • Finally, garnish with a lemon wheel and extra berries.

Muddling the berries too hard can make the drink bitter. Shake well to chill and mix flavors. Add the club soda last to keep its fizz.

    Notes

This recipe is easy to adjust. Use more or less simple syrup to change sweetness. Try different berry combos like strawberries or blueberries. For a stronger drink, add an extra 1/2 oz of vodka.
Make it a mocktail by skipping the vodka and adding more club soda. For a party, prep ingredients ahead and mix drinks to order. The cocktail tastes best when served right away while it's cold and fizzy.
