Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring spoons
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Small plate and spoon
  • Old fashioned glass or coupe glass
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Small whisk or handheld frother

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice do not use bottled
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup or maple syrup
  • 0.5 oz orange liqueur triple sec or Cointreau
  • 0.25-0.5 tsp ground cinnamon or 1 oz cinnamon syrup
  • 1 egg white or 1 oz aquafaba
  • ice cubes enough to fill shaker
  • cinnamon stick garnish
  • lemon or orange slice garnish

Instructions

  • Chill your glass by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
  • Add tequila, lemon juice, syrup, orange liqueur, and cinnamon to the shaker.
  • Add the egg white or aquafaba for creamy texture if desired.
  • Dry shake (without ice) for about 15 seconds to build foam.
  • Add ice to the shaker and shake for another 20 seconds until chilled.
  • Discard the ice water from your glass and strain the cocktail in.
  • Garnish with cinnamon, a cinnamon stick, or a citrus slice.

Notes

For a vegan option, use aquafaba instead of egg white. Ground cinnamon offers a punchier flavor, while cinnamon syrup blends smoothly. Swap in maple syrup for a deeper flavor. Always use fresh lemon juice for the best taste. Adjust sweetness or tartness by tweaking syrup or lemon juice quantities.
