Ingredients

  • 2 oz whiskey or tequila, brandy, or rum
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup
  • 4 oz hot water
  • 1 pinch ground chipotle powder or tiny bit dried chipotle
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 slice lemon for garnish
  • 1 star anise optional, for aroma

Instructions

  • Heat water in a saucepan or kettle until steamy.
  • Add honey to a warm mug, pour in hot water, and stir until honey dissolves.
  • Mix in lemon juice and whiskey (or tequila, brandy, or rum).
  • Sprinkle in chipotle powder. Add cinnamon stick and whole cloves; let steep a couple minutes.
  • Stir gently and taste—adjust sweetness or chipotle to your liking.
  • Garnish with lemon slice and star anise if desired. Serve piping hot.

Notes

Use just a little chipotle for gentle warmth. Adjust honey to taste, or swap in agave for a tequila version. Serve hot and sip slowly for ultimate comfort.
