Equipment

  • A medium-sized pot is needed to boil the water and steep the hibiscus flowers.
  • Grab a strainer to separate the flowers from the tea.
  • I love using a pitcher to mix and chill the tea in the fridge.
  • A stirring spoon helps blend everything nicely,
  • while glasses for serving make the presentation perfect.
  • Finally, a knife and cutting board are useful if I decide to add fruits or herbs as a garnish

Ingredients

Here's what I need to create this tasty mocktail:

  • 2 cups dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup sugar adjust to taste
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Mint leaves for garnish
  • Ice cubes to chill the drink

Sometimes I like to add a bit of sparkle with club soda or sparkling water. It's entirely up to you!

Instructions

  • Boil Water: First, I bring water to a boil in the pot.
  • Steep Flowers: I turn off the heat and add the hibiscus flowers, letting them steep for 10-15 minutes.
  • Strain and Sweeten: Using the strainer, I separate the flowers from the liquid and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  • Mix and Chill: I pour the tea into a pitcher, add fresh lime juice, and place it in the fridge to chill.
  • Serve: Once cool, I serve it over ice, garnished with mint leaves. Feel free to top with club soda for some fizz!

Notes

I love experimenting with this recipe. Try using honey instead of sugar for a different flavor. Those who enjoy a more citrusy taste might add slices of lemon or orange.
Remember to taste and adjust sweetness to your liking. It's always a hit at parties and gatherings. If you give it a try, I'd love to hear your thoughts or see your versions in the comments below. 🍋✨
