Ingredients

  • 8-10 fresh cherries pitted and halved
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz cherry juice unsweetened or lightly sweetened
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • Crushed ice enough to fill cup
  • Mint sprig for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Add fresh cherries and mint leaves to a mixing glass.
  • Muddle gently to release juices and mint aroma.
  • Add bourbon, cherry juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the mixing glass halfway with crushed ice.
  • Stir gently for about 15 seconds.
  • Top serving glass with crushed ice.
  • Strain mixture over the ice.
  • Garnish with mint sprig and maraschino cherry.

Notes

Do not over-muddle mint to avoid bitterness. For stronger cherry flavor, add more cherry juice or cherries. Reduce bourbon and add water for a lighter drink. Crushed ice is key for proper dilution and chilling.
