Equipment

  • Large pitcher (2-quart capacity)
  • Wooden spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Wine glasses for serving

Ingredients

  • 2 bottles white wine Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
  • 2 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved
  • 3 limes juiced (about 1/4 cup juice)
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups lime seltzer water
  • Ice for serving
  • Optional garnish: Fresh cherries and lime wheels

Instructions

  • Add pitted and halved cherries to the pitcher.
  • Pour both bottles of wine over the cherries.
  • Add lime juice and simple syrup to the mixture.
  • Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  • Just before serving, add the lime seltzer water and stir.
  • Pour into ice-filled glasses.
  • Add a fresh cherry and lime wheel garnish to each glass.

Notes

Store leftover sangria in the refrigerator for up to 2 days without the seltzer water.
Add the seltzer water only when ready to serve to keep the bubbles fresh.
For a stronger cherry flavor, muddle half of the cherries before adding to the pitcher.
For a sweeter drink, add more simple syrup one tablespoon at a time.
