Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Strainer
  • Margarita glass
  • Small plate
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 oz lime juice fresh
  • 2 oz cherry juice or tart cherry concentrate (diluted to taste)
  • 1 oz simple syrup or maraschino cherry juice, to taste
  • 1 oz frozen limeade concentrate optional, for stronger lime flavor
  • 0.5 oz grenadine for color and depth
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • salt or sugar for rimming the glass; optional
  • lime wedge and maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Rim a margarita glass with salt or sugar if desired, then fill with fresh ice.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, cherry juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels very cold.
  • Strain into the prepared glass.
  • Slowly pour in grenadine to create a layered effect (optional: stir gently to blend).
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a sharper cherry flavor, use tart cherry juice; for a sweeter, candy-like note, use maraschino cherry juice. Add the frozen limeade concentrate for extra citrus intensity, or skip for a drier style. Lighten with a splash of soda water just before serving. Keep ingredients chilled and glasses cold for the crispest texture.
