  • Tall glass or mason jar
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Mixing spoon
  • Small knife and cutting board
  • Ice scoop or spoon
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tart cherry juice or sweet cherry juice
  • 1/3 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup or honey, maple syrup, or agave
  • 1/4 cup orange juice or cranberry juice, optional
  • 8 fresh cherries pitted and halved, or use frozen
  • 5 mint leaves or thyme sprigs
  • ice cubes
  • grenadine splash, for deeper color
  • mint sprig for garnish
  • cocktail cherries for garnish
  • lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Toss fresh cherries and mint leaves into the shaker and gently muddle to release juices.
  • Pour in cherry juice, lime juice, and sweetener of choice.
  • Add orange or cranberry juice if desired.
  • Fill the shaker halfway with ice. Shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into a glass packed with fresh ice.
  • Top with sparkling water, club soda, or sparkling cherry soda. Stir gently.
  • Add a splash of grenadine for deeper color.
  • Garnish with mint, cherries, or lime wheel. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

Notes

Adjust tartness and sweetness to taste. Tart cherry juice is bolder; sweet cherry is milder. Frozen cherries work out of season. Add more mint or citrus for extra freshness. To serve a crowd, double or triple the recipe. Great with sparkling cherry soda or lemonade. For a mojito vibe, muddle extra mint and top with more soda.
