  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Rocks glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon Woodford Reserve or other smooth bourbon
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz rosemary simple syrup see notes for recipe
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1-2 oz club soda or sparkling water, to top
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary for garnish
  • lemon wheel for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add bourbon, lemon juice, rosemary simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.
  • Shake hard for about 10–15 seconds until everything’s cold.
  • Strain into a rocks glass packed with ice.
  • Top with club soda or sparkling water and give it a gentle stir.
  • Garnish with a rosemary sprig and a lemon wheel if you like. Clap the rosemary between your hands first to release aroma.

Notes

To make rosemary simple syrup: Simmer equal parts sugar and water with a few sprigs of rosemary for 5 minutes. Strain and cool before using. Adjust the syrup for sweetness, or soda for a lighter cocktail. Fresh lemon juice makes a big difference. For a stronger bourbon flavor, use less soda. Great for a relaxing night or sharing with friends!
