Equipment

  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Fine strainer
  • Measuring jigger
  • Rocks glass or cocktail glass
  • Ice
  • Small spoon or fork

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon pick one you like
  • 1 oz pecan syrup store-bought or homemade
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • ice cubes for mixing and serving
  • toasted pecans for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Add bourbon, pecan syrup, bitters, and vanilla (if using) to your mixing glass.
  • Fill the glass with ice.
  • Stir for about 30 seconds, just until it’s cold and everything’s mixed.
  • Strain into a rocks or cocktail glass with fresh ice.
  • Top with a toasted pecan, if you want.

Notes

Homemade pecan syrup gives the richest flavor, but store-bought works well too. Adjust sweetness by adding more syrup if desired. For batching, mix several servings in advance and chill. Vanilla extract is optional but adds warmth. Garnish with a toasted pecan for extra Southern flair.
