Equipment

  • Mixing glass or short cocktail glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or small measuring cup
  • Fine strainer (optional)
  • Ice cube tray or large ice mold

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 0.5 ripe peach sliced; about 1/2 small peach
  • 1 tsp simple syrup or 1 sugar cube
  • 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • ice preferably large cubes
  • orange peel or mint sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  • Add peach slices and simple syrup (or sugar cube) to a mixing glass or short cocktail glass. Muddle until the peach is juicy.
  • Add Angostura bitters and bourbon; stir gently to combine.
  • Add ice (large cubes preferred) and stir for about 20 seconds until well chilled.
  • Optional: fine-strain into a fresh glass over new ice for a smoother sip.
  • Express an orange peel over the drink and garnish with the peel or a mint sprig. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use ripe peaches for best flavor; thawed frozen slices work in a pinch. Adjust sweetness depending on fruit ripeness. A small splash of peach liqueur can boost peach notes. Spicier bourbons give more bite, while sweeter bourbons let the fruit shine.
