0.25cupmaple syrupor honey
1orangesliced
3cinnamon sticks
4whole cloves
2star anise pods

Instructions
Pour the red wine into a saucepan and set it over low heat.
Add orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
Stir in maple syrup or honey. Warm gently for 10–15 minutes, just below a simmer.
Remove from heat. Stir in bourbon (and brandy, if using).
Strain out the spices and fruit through a fine mesh strainer.
Pour into mugs and garnish with orange peel or a cinnamon stick.
