Equipment

  • Rocks glass
  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Muddler
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Large ice cube or ice cubes
  • Peeler or knife
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 0.5 oz cranberry simple syrup equal parts sugar, water, and cranberries
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • orange peel for garnish
  • fresh cranberries for garnish, optional
  • cinnamon stick for aroma, optional

Instructions

  • Pour bourbon, cranberry simple syrup, Angostura bitters, and orange bitters into a mixing glass.
  • Fill with ice cubes and stir gently with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds.
  • Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  • Express the orange peel over the drink and drop it in for garnish.
  • Add a cinnamon stick or a few fresh cranberries for extra aroma and color, if desired.

Notes

Adjust cranberry syrup for your preferred sweetness. Muddle fresh cranberries for extra fruit flavor. If you run out of orange bitters, stick to Angostura. A cinnamon stick adds subtle spice. Serve in a chilled rocks glass to keep the drink crisp. Great for holiday parties or cozy nights in.
