Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Collins glass
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 15-20 fresh blueberries
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra blueberries and mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Add blueberries and mint leaves to the shaker. Muddle gently until the blueberries release their juice and the mint becomes fragrant.
  • Pour in the rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled. Strain into a Collins glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently with a bar spoon. Garnish with fresh blueberries and a mint sprig.

Notes

Fresh blueberries work best, but frozen can be used in a pinch. Thaw them first before muddling.
The drink can be made non-alcoholic by replacing rum with extra club soda.
Store simple syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Gentle muddling prevents the mint from becoming bitter.
