Equipment

  • Large pitcher (at least 2-quart capacity)
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Ice cube tray
  • Blender (optional, for blueberry puree)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer (if using fresh lemon juice)
  • Tall serving glasses
  • Stirring spoon
  • Cutting board and knife

Ingredients

For the infusion base:

  • 2 cups fresh blueberries or frozen, thawed
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves lightly packed
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes

For serving (per glass):

  • Fresh blueberries for garnish
  • Mint sprigs for garnish
  • Lemon wheel
  • Sparkling water optional

You can adjust sweetness based on the natural sweetness of your blueberries.

Instructions

  • Rinse blueberries and mint leaves thoroughly.
  • In the pitcher, add blueberries and gently muddle them to release their juices. Don't crush completely—you want some texture.
  • Add mint leaves and lightly muddle to release oils without tearing the leaves.
  • Pour filtered water over the blueberry-mint mixture.
  • Add honey or maple syrup and stir until dissolved.
  • Add lemon juice and stir to combine.
  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  • Before serving, strain the mixture to remove solids if desired.
  • Fill glasses with ice, pour the infusion, and top with a splash of sparkling water if using.
  • Garnish each glass with fresh blueberries, a mint sprig, and a lemon wheel.

Notes

This mocktail keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The flavor actually improves after the first day as ingredients continue to infuse.
For parties, prepare a day ahead and store in sealed containers.
You can also freeze some of the infusion in ice cube trays to use as flavored ice cubes.
Try adding other berries like strawberries or blackberries for variation. A cinnamon stick or star anise adds warmth for fall and winter occasions.
For a more intense blueberry flavor, blend half the berries before adding to the infusion. This creates a more vibrant color too.
