Blueberry Limeade Mocktail Recipe

Blueberry Limeade Mocktail Recipe
I make this drink using fresh blueberries, zesty lime, and a simple syrup. The balance of tart and sweet is just right. This recipe's easy to follow, and the results are vibrant in both taste and color.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Wooden spoon or muddler
  • Pitcher or large jar
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Tall glasses
  • Ice cube tray
  • Spoon: For stirring.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice about 4 limes
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra blueberries and lime slices for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves optional

Instructions

  • Add blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup water to a saucepan.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the berries burst.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Strain the blueberry syrup into a pitcher, pressing the solids to get as much juice as possible.
  • Stir in the fresh lime juice and 2 cups cold water.
  • Refrigerate until cold.
  • To serve, fill glasses with ice.
  • Pour the blueberry limeade over ice and garnish with extra blueberries, lime slices, or mint if you like.

Notes

This recipe makes about four servings. For a stronger berry flavor, I sometimes toss in extra blueberries while simmering.
The syrup can be made ahead and kept in the fridge for up to three days.
To make it fizzy, I swap cold water for sparkling water right before serving. Adjust the sweetness by tasting and adding more sugar or water, if needed.
If I want the drink to look more festive, I go for clear glasses and pile on the mint and fruit. For best results, serve the mocktail cold and give it a quick stir before pouring each glass.
