Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Citrus juicer
  • Measuring jigger
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Highball glass
  • Mixing spoon
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka plain or blueberry flavored
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz blueberry simple syrup or muddled fresh blueberries with simple syrup
  • 4 oz lemonade homemade or store-bought
  • ice cubes
  • fresh blueberries for garnish
  • lemon slices or wedges for garnish
  • fresh mint or basil leaves optional
  • sparkling water or club soda optional, for a lighter drink

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add vodka, lemon juice, blueberry syrup, and lemonade.
  • If using fresh blueberries, muddle them in the shaker before adding liquids.
  • Shake for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
  • Top with sparkling water or club soda if desired.
  • Garnish with blueberries, lemon wedge, and mint or basil if desired.

Notes

Homemade blueberry syrup adds richer flavor. For a mocktail, omit vodka and add more lemonade or sparkling water. Adjust syrup or lemon juice to taste. Use frozen blueberries instead of ice to avoid dilution.
