Blueberry Lavender Smash Cocktail Recipe

Blueberry Lavender Smash Cocktail Recipe
I use fresh blueberries and dried lavender to make a light, fruity cocktail. You don’t need much—just a handful of ingredients and a couple of basic tools.

Equipment

  • I use a cocktail shaker to mix everything well and keep out any solids.
  • A muddler helps crush the blueberries and get all that juice out.
  • A fine mesh strainer is handy for catching any bits of fruit or lavender when pouring into the glass.
  • I always reach for a jigger to keep my pours in check so the drink’s balanced.
  • For serving, a sturdy glass—rocks or old-fashioned—is perfect, especially if it’s clear so you can see that gorgeous color.
  • And if I need to stir after adding soda, a long spoon gets the job done.

Ingredients

Here’s what I use for one drink:

  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 teaspoons dried culinary lavender
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 ounce lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 ounces club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint or lemon slice for garnish optional

Instructions

  • First, I toss the blueberries and dried lavender into the shaker.
  • I muddle them gently—enough to release juice and flavor, but not so much that it gets messy.
  • Next, I add vodka, simple syrup, lemon juice, and a scoop of ice.
  • I close up the shaker and give it a good, hard shake for about 15 seconds.
  • Then I strain the mix into a glass filled with fresh ice.
  • I top it off with club soda or sparkling water, then stir gently with a spoon to mix in the bubbles.
  • If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll add a mint sprig or a lemon slice on top.

That’s it—ready to serve on the spot.

    Notes

If I don’t have dried lavender, sometimes I skip it or use a few drops of food-safe lavender extract. Just a warning: too much lavender can get soapy fast, so I always use a light hand.
Swapping vodka for gin is a nice twist if I want more flavor. For a non-alcoholic version, I leave out the vodka and add extra club soda instead.
I always muddle the blueberries and lavender gently—no need to turn them into mush. If I want a stronger lavender note, I’ll steep the lavender in the simple syrup ahead of time and strain it before using.
Fresh, ripe blueberries and fresh lemon juice make all the difference, at least in my book.
