Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Highball glasses
  • Measuring jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice

Ingredients

For 2 servings, gather these items:

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 oz ginger syrup
  • 4 oz vodka
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint and lemon slices for garnish

You can make ginger syrup at home by simmering 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup sliced ginger for 15 minutes. Strain and cool before using.

Instructions

  • Muddle 3/4 cup blueberries in a cocktail shaker.
  • Add lemon juice, ginger syrup, vodka, and ice to the shaker.
  • Shake well for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into ice-filled highball glasses.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently.
  • Garnish with remaining blueberries, mint sprigs, and lemon slices.
  • Serve right away and enjoy!

For a mocktail version, skip the vodka and add more club soda.

    Notes

This cocktail is best made with fresh blueberries when they're in season. Frozen berries can work too, but let them thaw first.
The ginger syrup adds a nice kick, but you can adjust the amount to taste. Start with less if you're not sure.
For a smoother drink, blend the muddled blueberries and strain before adding to the shaker.
Try different spirits like gin or white rum for variety. Each will give the drink a unique flavor.
