This drink brings together fresh blueberries and crisp cucumber for a light, refreshing flavor. It’s honestly so easy to whip up at home with what you probably already have.

Equipment

  • Measuring cup (liquid)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Small strainer or fine mesh sieve
  • Cocktail shaker or large jar with a lid
  • Tall glass
  • Stirring spoon
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Citrus juicer (handheld or manual)

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cucumber thinly sliced (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice about 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves optional for garnish

Instructions

  • Add blueberries, cucumber slices, and honey to the shaker.
  • Use a muddler to gently mash the blueberries and cucumber. This releases juice and flavor.
  • Pour in the fresh lime juice and cold water.
  • Fill the shaker with ice, close, and shake for about 15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice.
  • Top up the glass with club soda or sparkling water.
  • Stir lightly to combine everything.
  • Garnish with cucumber slices, blueberries, and mint if I have some.

Notes

If I don’t have a muddler, the back of a wooden spoon is totally fine. Crushing the blueberries and cucumber well is key to getting that flavor right.
Club soda gives more fizz, while sparkling water is usually a bit lighter. For a crowd, I’ll double or triple the amounts and mix in a pitcher.
If I’m making it ahead, I wait to add the club soda so it doesn’t go flat. Sometimes, I freeze blueberries and use them instead of ice—they chill the drink without watering it down. Playing with herbs like mint or basil? That’s fun too.
