Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Ice cubes
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco recommended
  • 4 oz orange juice fresh-squeezed preferred
  • 0.5 oz grenadine syrup
  • 0.5 oz blue curacao liqueur
  • 0.5 oz lime juice optional, for tartness
  • 0.5 oz triple sec optional, for more depth
  • ice cubes
  • orange slice or cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour tequila and orange juice into a shaker with a splash of lime juice if using. Shake lightly.
  • Strain into the glass over ice.
  • Slowly pour grenadine down the side of the glass so it sinks to the bottom.
  • Gently drizzle blue curaçao over the top using the back of a spoon.
  • Add a small float of triple sec if desired. Garnish with an orange slice or cherry. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use blanco tequila for a clean taste, and always use fresh orange juice if possible. Adjust grenadine and curaçao to control sweetness and color. Try a chilled glass for best presentation. Layer the colors by pouring slowly for a dramatic look.
