Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Blender (for frozen version)
  • Coupe or martini glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz blue curaçao or orange curaçao
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes for shaking or blending
  • Lime wheel or wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add white rum, blue curaçao, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
  • Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately.
  • For a frozen version: blend all ingredients with a cup of crushed ice until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and garnish as above.

Notes

Keep the rum-to-lime ratio balanced for best flavor. Fresh lime juice is key. Add extra simple syrup for a sweeter taste. Blue curaçao gives the bold color; orange curaçao works if you don’t mind losing the blue. Reduce rum for a lighter version.
