Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Citrus juicer
  • Strainer
  • Mixing glass
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Serving glass (rocks or margarita)
  • Small plate

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 1 oz blood orange juice fresh
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 0.75 oz lime juice fresh
  • 0.5 oz triple sec or other orange liqueur
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • salt or sugar for the rim, optional
  • blood orange or lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Optional: Rim a chilled glass with salt or sugar and fill with fresh ice.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add tequila, blood orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, triple sec, and simple syrup.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds until the shaker is very cold.
  • Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a blood orange or lime slice and serve.

Notes

Taste and adjust before serving—add a touch more simple syrup for sweetness or extra lime for brightness. A splash of soda water can lighten it, and chili-lime salt makes a great rim. Fresh juices really shine here; blended with ice also works for a frozen version.
