Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice about 2–3 blood oranges
  • 1 tablespoon honey agave syrup, or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated ginger optional
  • 4 –6 ounces sparkling water seltzer, club soda, or tonic water
  • 6 –8 fresh mint leaves basil, or rosemary (for garnish and optional muddling)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes plus more for glass
  • 2 blood orange or lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Add 1/2 cup ice cubes to a cocktail shaker or mason jar.
  • Pour in 1 cup fresh blood orange juice, 1 tablespoon sweetener, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice (if using).
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon grated ginger if desired for a spicy kick.
  • Seal and shake well to mix and chill the ingredients.
  • Fill a highball glass with fresh ice cubes.
  • Strain the mixture into the glass to remove pulp and seeds if needed.
  • Top off with 4–6 ounces of sparkling water, seltzer, tonic, or club soda.
  • Gently stir with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs and a blood orange or lemon slice.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
