  • Jigger
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Rocks glass or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz fresh-squeezed blood orange juice
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 1 egg white optional, pasteurized
  • 2-3 dashes orange or aromatic bitters
  • 1 slice blood orange for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Pour the bourbon, blood orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white (if using) into your shaker.
  • Dry shake for about 15 seconds to foam the egg white.
  • Add ice and shake again until cold.
  • Double strain into your glass.
  • Add bitters on top, swirl or decorate.
  • Garnish with a blood orange slice.

Notes

Swap lime for lemon for a sharper taste. Increase simple syrup for more sweetness. Use fresh citrus for best flavor.
