Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 1 oz blood orange juice fresh if possible
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 0.5 oz orange liqueur optional
  • orange or blood orange slices for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Pour in the bourbon, blood orange juice, orange juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur.
  • Add two dashes of Angostura bitters.
  • Shake for about 15 seconds until cold.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a slice of blood orange or regular orange.

Notes

Use mid-range bourbon for best balance. Adjust syrup based on orange sweetness. Add soda water for a lighter drink or use large ice cubes to reduce dilution.
